研發處設有「國際合作組」，主要業務為推動國際學術交流與合作，目前本校已與美國、英國、澳大利亞、加拿大、韓國、德國、紐西蘭、烏克蘭、香港及中國大陸等國家與地區五十餘所國際知名大學，建立了密切的姊妹學校及合作關係，彼此間交流頻繁，除雙方互訪外，正大力推動跨國之研究計畫案以及教授與學生的交換計畫。

 　　自從政府開放兩岸文化交流以來，海峽兩岸大學之間的交流更是本校積極推動的一項重點，本校自1990年起已與大陸的復旦大學、中國科學院自動化研究所、北京科技大學、北京工業大學、北京理工大學、北京聯合大學、深圳高等職業技術學院、昆明理工大學、瀋陽工業大學、東北大學、武漢理工大學、湖南大學、哈爾濱工業大學、華中科技大學、大連理工大學、西北工業大學、南京理工大學、瀋陽大學、山東科技大學等多所著名大學簽訂合作協議書，除積極進行學術交流以增進彼此關係外，並有計畫地整合大陸在基礎科學及臺灣在應用科技的優勢，共創雙贏局面。

 　　1997年本校進一步將合作對象擴展至德國，與該國著名的Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft (C.D.G職訓中心)簽訂合作協議，雙方針對技專校院的技職教育、政府機構研究中心與民間企業職業訓練結合等課題，每年定期互派產官學專家進行訪問與研究。

 　　本校定期舉辦中美、中日等國際技職教育研討會，就相關議題進行研討，並分享研究成果與經驗。除外，並多次舉辦如IEEE國際研討會及海峽兩岸之各類學術研討會，促進學術交流，並提昇本校學術地位及研究水準。   

    To promote international cooperation and scholarly exchange, the International Cooperation Section of the Research and Development Office has established sisterhood with over 50 internationally renowned universities, including West Virginia University, Virginia University, Auburn University, Lansing Community College, South Illinois at Carbondale, University of Hawaii, College of Education in The Penn. State University, University of New Orleans, The Robert Gordon University, University of Central England in Birmingham, University of Northunbria at Newcastle, Middlesex University, Kingston University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Humber College, Technische Universitat Berlin, Queensland University of Technology, Swaziland College of Technology, Ukraine University and many other universities located in Australia, Canada, Korea, Germany, New Zealand, Russia, and Ukraine. 

    Since 1990, NTUT has also signed cooperative contracts with nearly 20 distinguished universities in the PRC to promote cooperation between Mainland China’s fundamental studies and Taiwan’s applied studies.? These universities include Fudan University, Northeastern University, Shen Yang University, Beijing Industrial University, Beijing University of Technology, Ta Lien Institute of Technology, Middle China University, Wuhan University of Technology, Ha Erh-pin Industrial University, Beijing Union University, Kunmimg University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen Polytechnic and Hong Kong Institute of Technology.

    Since 1997, the university has endeavored to establish a cooperative relationship with the Carl Duisberg Gesellchaft, a famous German professional job training institute.? Carl Duisberg Gesellchaft has signed a contract with NTUT so that a regular annual scholarly exchange and cooperation program is initiated to discuss problems in vocational education and job training that concern the government and the enterprises.  

The university regularly holds Sino-America and Sino-Japan educational forums to compare notes on various issues.? In addition, the university has hosted international conferences such as IEEE and many cross-strait academic workshops to enhance scholarly and cultural exchange and improve NTUT’s academic reputation.
