2023 Taipei Tech and NICS jointly establish Critical Infrastructure R&D Center
In order to enhance national information security, Taipei Tech has set up the Critical Infrastructure Research and Development Center (CIRDC), which was inaugurated today (June 6). According to Taipei Tech, the center will focus on the four major critical infrastructures of oil, water, electricity, railways, communications, and healthcare. It will also collaborate with the National Institute of Cyber Security (NICS) to deepen its focus on the forward-looking and critical technologies of information security, establish information security specifications and testing procedures, and co-employ security professionals to provide professional trainings and internships for students, so that we can jointly cultivate professionals in the field of information security.
Taipei Tech President Sea-Fue Wang said, Taipei Tech set up a forward-looking technology research headquarters, the establishment of a platform for cooperation with industry co-management, co-education, co-research, and spared no effort to invest in the development of Taiwan's six core strategic industries, and in the area of national defense strategy, has been the National Space Center, the U.S. Georgia Institute of Technology, such as the cooperation between the signing of the contract, the new Institute of Space Systems Engineering this year.
In terms of information security excellence, Sea-Fue Wang pointed out that Taipei Tech is joining hands with NICS today to strengthen the foundation of Taiwan's independent research and development in information security technology, and to build a public defense network in areas such as oil, water, electricity, railways, communications, and healthcare that are closely related to people's livelihoods, so as to work with one heart and one mind to strengthen the resilience of information security in a smart nation.
NICS Dean QUAN DE, HE said, in order to enhance the national information security technology capabilities, the Ministry of Digital Development set up NICS, research and development of information security technology, today Taipei Tech and NICS cooperation to set up a critical infrastructure R & D center, hope that through the Taipei Tech in the critical infrastructure protection and management of technological research and development energy, to further enhance the country's information security system, and to jointly establish the information security governance mechanism and the criteria of the risk assessment mechanism, to cooperate to build a more solid protection shield of the digital Taiwan.
Shih-Hsuan Yang, director of Taipei Tech's Critical Infrastructure R&D Center and vice president of Taipei Tech, noted that the center will do its best to assist national critical infrastructure authorities and coordinating agencies in developing technologies and equipment for safe maintenance and disaster-resistant resilience, as well as assisting in the development of critical infrastructure safety specifications and testing standards.
